My Review of Moonage Daydream
written September 23, 2022 If I were to describe #moonagedaydream in two words, I'd call it beautiful chaos. The movie is not a movie at all really, but almost dream-like and a journey of light, music, sound, images, colors, and a peek into an extraordinary man's life from youth to death, as he constantly reinvented himself over time through music and art...becoming in effect a work of art that we can still admire today. I honestly was left feeling a sense of loss and sadness because I did not grow up knowing enough about David Bowie...I knew of him later in his career, through the movie Labyrinth, a few songs in the 80s and through the group Duran Duran who cites him as an influence. To see his life though...presented this way...with a breaking down and reimagining constantly...flowing over itself like a wave through time...with recurring images sort of chaotically put together into a fascinating display (that is almost like a musical score) really challenged my senses....
