The Mummy and the Monkey, Cleveland Horror Hosts. They were not always horror hosts though. Their background and story is not well known and has a lot of mystery surrounding it…the kind of mystery that would make Scooby and the Gang interested in the investigation. Here’s what is known about Grim Gorri…Grim is a rare species of ape that was discovered when a scientist created a portal to another dimension…a dimension where apes were the dominant species and man doesn’t exist. And Grimm happened to be on his way to the movie theater…a movie theater run by apes of course..to see the latest Baboon Lagossi movie…that’s when the portal opened.
The scientist was
hoping that by opening a portal he would bring back something that would be an advanced
alien that would help him solve a gamut of world crises at the time. Instead he brought back Grimm…the lovable
goofy monkey-man that enjoys farting, throwing his poop and watching old
movies. At first, the scientist was
disappointed but later came to appreciate Grimm and the joy he brought to the
world through his movie knowledge and exceptional abilities to add funny sound
effects to old movies shown online.
Then there was
Janet Decay, the Mummy. The same
scientist that yanked Grimm from another dimension and was disappointed that
Grimm didn’t have as much knowledge to save the world, decided to look to
Ancient Egypt for answers. While digging
near the tomb of Sneferu, the scientist came across the tomb of his daughter,
Janet Decay. In reading the hieroglyphs
which were etched outside her tomb, the scientist learned that Janet was known for being sensible, beautiful,
could read fortunes, and loved cats. He
also learned that prior to her death, Janet was struck with a rare disease at
the time, of which there was no cure.
Sneferu, using his contacts through trade, made contact with mysterious
mystics from the west that had discovered the ability to suspend living tissue
in time by applying a cream pomeade…which would later be called ‘oil of
decay’.
Before the mystics could release their
finding to their people, Sneferu made them an offer so great of gold that they would
instead give the pomeade secret to Sneferu’s magicians who would then use it to
suspend his daughter Janet in time. And because
he thought Janet would be so heartbroken without them, he also covered her cats
Louie, Jack and Earl in the special cream and put them in the tomb with
Janet. Sneferu’s hope was that one day,
someone would find Janet, heal her deadly disease and she could go on living
happily.
And so it was
that the scientist discovered Janet and
her ‘crypt kitties’ and was able to heal her with more modern medicines and
treatment.
You’ve probably
already figured out that it was sometime soon after that Janet was introduced
to Grimm Gorri and the two decided to show movies together and have a home together
along with the crypt kitties.
Something not
known about Janet as well is that as a child she enjoyed archaeology, and
enjoyed learning about the ancient pharaohs and interesting people that came
before her. Now that she lived in
Cleveland, Parma to be exact, her and Grimm became interested in the old movie hosts
that became famous in the area, like Superhost, The Ghoul, Ghoulardi, and Big
Chuck and Little John. After Janet and
Grimm learned about all these great TV hosts, they decided they wanted to
preserve their legacy by collecting rare objects that they could store in a vault
in their basement.
Their adventures would lead to them on a search to…
Find the cape of Superhost…
…the crazy blue coat of the Ghoul…
….silly props used by Big Chuck and Little John…
And the hairpiece of Ghoulardi…
Thus, by having these items in their basement, it would give
them the magic, power, and enlightenment they’d need to continue being amazing
and excellent movie horror hosts for Cleveland…that would one day win the
coveted Rondo award.
