Life and the Lunar Eclipse

I wrote this in December of 1997.  I didn't know then all the trials I'd personally go through in the years to come, but I definitely had been through many during my childhood.  I made a few edits today, 12/5/2021...with many more challenges having gone through.  Like many people, I am fascinated by celestial objects like the moon in the sky.  They are bigger than us and I believe they are there to teach us something that we can't learn just on our own.  So when you're outside...pay attention to the moon and listen to what your mind and heart say about it.

Bold stands the moon

Brilliant,

Ready for the Earth's shadow to cover it...

Knowing it will be darkened for a short time

And it will be gone

As if it wasn't there

Still stands the moon

Knowing too that it will come out

Bold again

After the shadow passes

Through phases and varied sky conditions

And sometimes behind clouds

But still there

Life can sometimes be like a lunar eclipse

For a time we may be brilliant and shine

Then a shadow comes along to cover us for a time

As we pass through varied challenges and phases

Hopefully though, we may be as the moon

And stand...and come out brilliant

With the help of eternal forces

To move beyond the shadows

And be a celestial wonder once again.
